Fees and Billing

Therapy

Private Fees

Clients who wish to see a Psychologist outside of Medicare or any other schemes are able to pay the full fee for a consultation. Toward Psychology is committed to providing affordable services within the private sector and as such the fees are well below the recommended rate by the Australian Psychological Society of $310

The fees for our services are as follows:

Individual 50-60 Minute Consultations:

  • Psychologist $190

Assessment fees are discussed with the client/parent/guardian on a needs basis. We do not want the cost of an assessment to be a barrier to having an assessment completed so we are happy to discuss how this can suit your needs.

Medicare

In 2006, the Australian Government introduced the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative. This initiative provides rebates towards sessions with a Psychologist. In order to access the rebates, you need to have a Mental Health Care Plan that can be prepared by your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician.

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan, Medicare provides a significant rebate towards the total cost – currently this is $101.55 for Psychologists. This means clients will incur an out of pocket fee of $88.45 for each session.

The client will be sent an invoice after each session for the out of pocket fee.

Clients are also eligible to receive rebates for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year*.

In addition to individual therapy sessions, Medicare provides rebates towards 10 Group Therapy sessions per calendar year.

* The number of rebated sessions are based on Government budget allocation and is not representative of how many sessions a person may need

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Toward Psychology is registered to provide assessment and treatment to patients registered under the NDIS. There are no out of pocket gaps for NDIS patients and accounts are all recovered from NDIS directly. We accept all self-managed plans or organisation-managed plans.

Assessment

Private Fees

Clients who wish to have an assessment completed outside of any other schemes are able to pay the full fee for a consultation. Toward Psychology is committed to providing affordable services and will discuss the likely fee for assessment and completion of a report.

The fees for an assessment report can range in price from $1600 to $2400 and assessment fees are always discussed with the client/parent/guardian on a needs basis. We do not want the cost of an assessment to be a barrier to having an assessment report completed so we are happy to discuss how this can suit your budget.

Medicare

A Medicare rebate is now available for diagnostic assessment of complex neurodevelopmental disorders and eligible disabilities prior to the client’s 25th Birthday (0-25yrs) and requires a referral from a Paediatrician for the Medicare rebate to apply.

This initiative is called the Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Eligible Disabilities Scheme and it provides rebates towards assessment sessions with a Psychologist

Medicare provides a significant rebate towards the total cost – currently 4 x $101.55 for Registered Psychologists – and the client will incur a lower out of pocket fee dependent on the overall assessment fee.
